What is ICE? • Founded in 1818, the Institution of Civil Engineers was the very first engineering Institution • ICE has 70,000 members and is recognised and valued worldwide for its excellence as a: • Centre for learning – developing members’ skills • Qualifying body – setting the standards • Public voice – promoting the profession • Facilitator for ‘best practice’ – continuously improving the industry
