The SUNSTEP initiative, a robust public-private partnership, showcases the commitment of the US and local industry to enhance engineering education in South Africa. Since its launch in 1997, SUNSTEP has trained over 117,000 learners and 4,000 educators in electronics and related fields. The program has led to a notable surge in engineering enrollments, particularly among designated groups and female students. With support from dedicated volunteers and educational institutions, SUNSTEP inspires students to aim high in their studies, promoting real-world applications of knowledge and career opportunities.
