  1. The following slides can be used as templates in mocking up your PCR Gels. • Open up an image of your gel. • Copy/Paste or import your gel figure onto the slide using Picture option in the Powerpoint Insert pull-down menu. • Size the gel to roughly fit the page and the lane markers. Note: If your gel has different dimensions or number of lanes then you will not be able to make them line up well and will need to adjust the labels. • Copy, move and resize the labels and size markers as necessary • Replace the #XX#.10 labels with your intitials and year(e.g. MS.11). • Indicate the predicted size of the cDNA inserts at the bottom of the gel (###). • Discuss the size of your cDNA insert (subtract 200 bp’s to consider vector bp’s). • State if it should be sent out for sequencing (>300bp’s) bp= nucleotide base pairs. • Save the file and upload it to your school’s P drive. • Prepare a PowerPoint presentation for your PCR gel including the size of the cDNA and whether it would be sent out for sequencing as mentioaed in #7 and 8.
