In November 2006, Santa Rosa District Schools addressed the critical need for Internet safety among students aged 12-17, with 87% actively online. A startling 51% log in daily, yet only 37% have established Internet rules, and a mere 33% report parental oversight of their online activities. The district launched a comprehensive Internet Safety Action Plan, incorporating workshops, peer education, and parent involvement to ensure safety. Resources include educational videos and websites promoting responsible online behavior, aiming to protect students from potential risks, including interaction with offenders.
