  2. In 1904 when Dr. Seuss (aka Theodor Seuss Geisel) was born, he did not know “the places he would go.”

  3. In 1925 he published his first picture and first used the name “Seuss.”

  4. In 1927 he married his wife Helen Palmer. • In 1931 they found out Helen could not have children • And wrote his first book that was never published.

  5. In 1937 Dr. Seuss’s First Published Book

  6. He and Helen purchased an old observation tower in La Jalla California where he spent 8 hours a day writing.

  7. Two of his first books

  8. 1954 • Two popular publishing companies asked him to write a book using 220 vocabulary words • In 1957 the result: The Cat in the Hat

  10. Dr. Seuss was considered to be one of the most inspirational and creative writers of the time.

  11. Dr. Seuss Dies September 1991 • Dr. Seuss wrote and illustrated 44 children’s books and wrote and illustrated for many magazines by his death. • His other works included 11 children’s TV specials, a Broadway musical and a movie (with more on the way). • He also receive two Acadamy awards, two Emmy awards, a Peabody award and a Pulitzer Prize.
