  1. Plot Structure Plot is the sequence of events in a story describes the structure of a story. A plot diagram is a graphic organizer used to map the significant events in a story. By placing the most significant events from a story on the plot diagram, you can visualize the key events of the story.

  2. Chronological order – story told in time order Flashback- story contains retold memories or events. Types of Plots

Plot Components Climax: the turning point, the most intense moment—either mentally or in action Rising Action: the series of conflicts and crisis in the story that lead to the climax Falling Action: all of the action which follows the climax Exposition: the start of the story, the situation before the action starts Resolution: the conclusion, the tying together of all of the threads

  4. Exposition :the start of the story, the situation before the action starts • Reader learns: • Characters • Setting

  5. Rising Action: the series of conflicts and crisis in the story that lead to the climax

  6. Climax The turning point in the story; often very exciting. Main character must make a decision or take action.

  7. Falling Action Characters start to resolve problems, their attitude and/or behavior changes.

  8. Resolution The story ends and looses end are tied up. Plans for the future maybe discussed.

  9. Conflict Conflict is the dramatic struggle between 2 forces in a story. Without conflict, there is no plot.
