  4. Firefighter Expectations • IF YOU ARE CAUGHT FREELANCING YOU WILL BE PLACED ON PROBATION UNTIL YOU CAN BE RETRAINED. • DO NOT PROCEED UNTIL YOU ARE TOLD TO DO SO. • TAKE ORDERS FROM ONLY ONE LEADER • IF SAFETY or IC tell you to ABANDON the Structure, should you?

All Firefighter(s)/Companies will arrive at Temporary Staging Combat Ready • Passport with all Company members and matching helmet shields. • Full PPE NO EXCEPTIONS • SCBA in Standby Mode • Hand tools Axe, Hallogan, Pike pole, Saw. • You should’nt have an open hand. • All other requested tools/ equipment.

  6. Elements of a Team/ Company • How many firefighters minimum required to be a Team/ Co. • Maintain- Visual, Audible, Physical Means, Safety Guide Rope • Sight, Sound, Touch • Passport/ Helmet shields

Common Definitions • Strategic mode: Transitional, Offensive, Defensive • Initiate (has), Establish, Assume, Terminate Command • Fire Attack, Standby Team, Back-up Team, Ventilation, Search Team, Rescue Team. • Temporary Staging: Is a Firefighter Ready area, and area for SCBA/air, hose, tools & equipment, rehab, gross decontamination located at command post. • Incident Time Line: Dispatch maintains an incident time line in 10 minute increments starting with the initial time of call and reports each increment back to the IC. • Base: Is a parking lot for Apparatus generally on Large scale incidents • Rehab:is a location established for firefighter to Rest,re-hydrate, and obtain medical evaluation.

Common Instructions/Orders? • If Command arrives first, then the first arriving Engine proceed to the scene. • If you are Offensive how many Engines do you need? • “E1-1 from Command” Park your Apparatus away from the scene (1-2 blocks) and standby. • “E1-1 from Command” Park you Apparatus and report to (bring manpower forward to) Temporary Staging. • Avoid “Command from E1-1” approaching where would you like me. • If you receive no orders what do you do?

  14. WHO am I……. • Officer X has been assigned Division “A” and given an interior assignment as back-up. • He/she was given helmet shields and Passport that say Team “A” however he arrived on E1-1. • What is his/her Radio Designator? • Who does he/she report changing fire conditions to?

  16. Safety Officers Role • The Role and responsibility of the Incident Safety Officer (ISO) or “Safety” is on-scene firefighter safety. (not commanding tactics) • ISO has ultimate authority for FF Safety and can stop unsafe acts, call for abandonment, withdraw. (must notify IC) • The ISO has ultimate authority when it comes to FF Safety. • Can ISO enter an IDLH environment? • Can you establish more than one ISO?

  18. Divisions and Groups Groups and Divisions are NEVER assigned one under the other they are both assigned Supervisors and are on the same level in the command structure.

  19. Identifying Divisions around buildings • Procedure: Side A,B,C,D (Alpha, Bravo, Charlie, Delta) • A side is Address, Front or Main entrance • Sides identified clockwise • Can a Division Supervisor be assigned the responsibility of more than just the front side? • Can IC designate Side E,F,G?
