  2. Which set of rosemary will grow faster, the one in the dark or in the light? • In our presentation, we will discuss: • What rosemary is • The plant structures • The adaptations • Common uses for our herb • What effects the plant’s growth • An overview of the plant growth presented as a graph • Procedures & Method • Bibliography • Conclusion

  3. hypothesis • We predicted before the start of growing our plants, that the plant that would grow in the light would be more successful because the sunlight would provide the plant with more growth and better chance of surviving. The light would provide the plant with energy and nutrients to survive.

  4. Rosemary:Rosemarinus officinalis LEAVES FLOWER STEM ROOTS

  5. Compounds of Rosemary • Common uses of rosemary are for cooking, gardening, decorating, culinary, and fragrances. • Rosemary was burnt at shrines in Ancient Greece to drive away illnesses and evil spirits. • The organic compound of rosemary is

  6. Rosemary PLANT GROWTH

  7. Photosynthesis • The function of photosynthesis is the process in which carbon dioxide is converted into energy or organic compounds. • The organelle responsible for photosynthesis is the chloroplast. • Radiant energy from the sun is transformed into chemical energy through the process of photosynthesis. • Because it is important to maintain it through photosynthesis.

  8. Process • First we researched all the information on rosemary on the internet, which helped us determine how to correctly put together our research on rosemary. • Then we put together our research, and developed slides of the information that we would present to the class.

  9. Observations of plant growth • Our plant grew towards the light. The process of a plant growing towards the light or away from the light is called positive and negative phototropism. • Our plant’s roots grew down into the soil. The process of this action is called positive geotropism. • We did come to water our plant one day, and the stem had been cut which was unusual.

  10. Affects to plant growth • The amount of sunlight a plant receives can indicate how much it will grow. • The amount of water a plant receives will determine how long it will survive. • The amount of soil a plant is provided will effect its growth because if the plant doesn’t receive enough soil it will not survive.

  11. Conclusion • Our results of this investigation was that the plant in the light grew the fastest and was more successful. Our results supported our hypothesis because we all thought that the plant in the light would be more successful than the plant in the dark. • We could improve on working together and being cooperative.
