  1. Romans 2:17-29 17Now you, if you call yourself a Jew; if you rely on the law and brag about your relationship to God; 18if you know his will and approve of what is superior because you are instructed by the law;

  2. Romans 2:17-29 19if you are convinced that you are a guide for the blind, a light for those who are in the dark, 20an instructor of the foolish, a teacher of infants, because you have in the law the embodiment of knowledge and truth-

  3. Romans 2:17-29 21you, then, who teach others, do you not teach yourself? You who preach against stealing, do you steal? 22You who say that people should not commit adultery, do you commit adultery? You who abhor idols, do you rob temples?

  4. Romans 2:17-29 23You who brag about the law, do you dishonor God by breaking the law? 24As it is written: "God's name is blasphemed among the Gentiles because of you."

  5. Romans 2:17-29 25Circumcision has value if you observe the law, but if you break the law, you have become as though you had not been circumcised.26If those who are not circumcised keep the law's requirements, will they not be regarded as though they were circumcised?

  6. Romans 2:17-29 27The one who is not circumcised physically and yet obeys the law will condemn you who, even though you have the written code and circumcision, are a lawbreaker.

  7. Romans 2:17-29 28A man is not a Jew if he is only one outwardly, nor is circumcision merely outward and physical. 29No, a man is a Jew if he is one inwardly; and circumcision is circumcision of the heart, by the Spirit, not by the written code. Such a man's praise is not from men, but from God.

  8. Amazing Grace: “I’m not OK, You’re not OK” Romans 2:17-29

  9. Review • “God gave them up…” Romans 1:24, 26, 28 • Their lives were characterized by: • Idolatry • Immorality • All sorts of evil behavior

  10. Who is OK? • Good Moral People? • Jews? • Anyone?

  11. Romans 3:21-31 21But now the righteousness of God has been manifested apart from the law, although the Law and the Prophets bear witness to it – 22the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ for all who believe.

  12. Romans 3:21-31 For there is no distinction: 23for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, 24and are justified by his grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus 25whom God put forward as a propitiation by his blood, to be received by faith.

  13. Romans 3:21-31 This was to show God’s righteousness, because in his divine forbearance he had passed over former sins. 26It was to show his righteousness at the present time, so that he might be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus.

  14. Romans 3:21-31 27Then what becomes of our boasting? It is excluded. By what kind of law? By a law of works? No, but by the law of faith. 28For we hold that one is justified by faith apart from works of the law. 29Or is God the God of Jews only? Is he not the God of Gentiles also?

  15. Romans 3:21-31 Yes, of Gentiles also, 30since God is one – who will justify the circumcised by faith and the uncircumcised through faith. 31Do we then overthrow the law by this faith? By no means! On the contrary, we uphold the law.
