REVERSE ENGINEERING BY LASER SCANNER 3D • What is Reverse Engineering? • Several kinds of measure instruments • Tests done on a mockup • Scan of ATLAS calorimeter face • How build surface from scans ? • Conclusion • Research and development shown here was been by: • PH/DT/PO: Andréa CATINACCIO, Aurélie MAURISSET, Mark HATCH and Christophe BAULT • Survey section managed by Christian LASSEUR C.BAULT
What is Reverse Engineering? Wikipediadefinition: The reverse-engineering process involves measuring an object and then reconstructing it as a 3D model. The physical object can be measured using 3D scanning technologies . The measured data alone, usually represented as a point cloud, lacks topological information and is therefore often processed and modeled into a more usable format such as a triangular-faced mesh, a set of nurbs surfaces or a CAD model. Conclusion Whatwe have done: With Survey section, we have done a lot of research about Reverse Engineering methodology, type of laser scanner and softwares available on the market. We have doneseveral tests of laserscannerwithsub-contractor Work to do:Now, we have to test softwares, to learntheirusing, and takedecisions about materialsCernshouldbuy. C.BAULT
