  2. Inserting and Positioning Pictures: Picture and Graphic: Add visual presentations

  3. The Most Commonly Used Graphic File Types Are: These File Formats are Mainly Used for: BMP: Large File Size, Icons, Wallpaper TIFF: Storage Container for Faxes and other digital images, Can be compressed or un-compressed, High Resolution Printing, GIF: Animations, Text, Clip Art, and Icons JPEG: Photographs, Natural Artwork, Desktop Publishing PNG: Not suited for photographs, Replacement for GIF and TIFF images, Online Viewing of Images

  4. To Modify a Picture or Graphic you need to be in which Layouts? Print Layout Full Screen Reading Web Layout The Outline and Draft View DO NOT display Pictures and Graphic.

  5. What is Clip Art? ClipArt includes drawings, movies, sounds, or stock photography to illustrate a specific concept.

  6. ClipArt includes different types of media files. These include: Video Audio Photographs Illustrations

  7. Windows Metafile File Format Windows Metafile File Format allows a graphic to be ungrouped so that individual portions of the graphic can be altered. .wmf

  8. Sizing a Graphic: There are many ways in Word 2010 to size a graphic. One way is to click on the Picture Tools Format Ribbon and select the Height and Weight command in the Size group. Another way is by dragging the little squares or circles on the perimeter of the graphic when it is selected. These little squares or circles are known as sizing handles.

  9. Text Wrapping: Text Wrapping changes the way text wraps around the selected object. There are 7 Text Wrapping Options that are available in the Arrange group on the Picture Tools Format Ribbon.

  10. Text Wrapping Cont. 1. Inline with the Text: To configure the objects so that it moves along with the text around it.

  11. Text Wrapping Cont. 2. Square: Configures the Objects so that is squares the graphic around the text.

  12. Text Wrapping Cont. 3. Tight: Configures the objects so that it fits tight to the text.

  13. Text Wrapping Cont. 4. Through Text Wrapping: It configures the objects so that the text will just go through it.

  14. Text Wrapping Cont. 5. Top and Bottom Text Wrapping: It configures the objects to be placed above the selected text.

  15. Text Wrapping Cont. 6. Behind the Text: It configures the objects so that it is placed behind the text.

  16. Text Wrapping Cont. 7. In Front of Text: It configures the objects so that it is placed in front of the text.

  17. What is a Watermark? A ghosted graphic that is displayed on top of or behind text in a document. You can create a Watermark by going to the Page Layout Ribbon and selected the Watermark Command located in the Page Background Group. Examples: Confidential, Do Not Copy, Draft

  18. What are Text Effects? Text Effects are Visual Effects added to selected text that includes shadows, reflections, glow, soft edges, bevel, and 3D Rotation. Text Effects can be added to selected Text by going to the Home Ribbon and selecting the text effects commands under the Font Group.

  19. Repositioning a Picture in Word 2010: To reposition a picture you can go to the Position Command in the Arrange Group on the Picture Tools Format Ribbon. You can reposition the picture again by using the Arrow keys. Go to Word 2010 and practice this.

  20. Repositioning a Picture in Word 2010 cont.: You can reposition multiple graphics at the same time by selecting the graphics and dragging them to a new position. You can select all by going to the Home Ribbon Tab and using the select objects command under the editing group.

  21. Repositioning a Picture in Word 2010 cont.: The Align Command located in the Arrange Group on the Picture Tools Format Ribbons, enables a user to select the Horizontal and Vertical placement of the picture.

  22. Creating WordArt: Object- Any type of embedded object Examples: WordArt, Shape, Chart, Etc. Shapes- Ready Made Shapes such as rectangles, circles, arrows, lines, flowcharts, symbols, and callouts WordArt- Enables users to create a shadowed, rotated, stretched, or wavy text effect.

  23. WordArt Cont. To insert WordArt into a document you click the Insert Ribbon Tab and select the WordArt Command under the group Text.

  24. New Drawing Canvas You can activate the drawing canvas by choosing commands in the illustrations Group on the Insert Ribbon. When the Drawing Canvas is open it activates the Drawing Tools Format Ribbon which provides the user with many functions. Several of these functions include: Changing the Shape Style Changing the Fill Color Changing the Outline Color Changing the Effect Changing the Position Changing the Alignment

  25. Drawing a Shape: To insert Shapes into a document you use the shapes command in the illustration group on the Insert Ribbon Tab. Shapes can be rotated in various directions using the commands on the Drawing Tools Format Ribbon. A user can add or change the fill color or fill pattern of a shape by going to the Shape Fill Command. You can fill a shape with a color, picture, gradient, or a texture look.

  26. Creating SmartArt: SmartArt: Graphics used in Word 2010 documents to visually represent information using items such as graphical lists or process diagrams.

  27. Creating SmartArt Cont.: A user can insert SmartArt by using the SmartArt Command in the Illustrations Group on the Insert Ribbon Tab. There are many different types of SmartArt in Word 2010. They include: List Process Cycle Hierarchy Relationship Matrix Pyramid Picture Please take time to see each example and draw one example of each.

  28. Creating and Modifying a Chart: A chart is used to illustrate and compare data. A chart can be inserted into a document by going to the Insert Ribbon Tab and select the command Chart under the illustrations group.

  29. Creating and Modifying a Chart Cont.: Various Types of Charts available in Word 2010 Include: Column Line Pie Bar Area XY Scatter Stock Surface Doughnut Bubble Radar

  30. Creating and Modifying a Chart Cont.: When a user inserts a Chart it also inserts a datasheet that relates to it. The datasheet contains columns, rows, column heading, row headings, and cells. Column: Vertical Row: Horizontal Columns: Represented by A, B, C, Ect. Row Headings: Represented by numbers Cells: Intersection between Columns and Rows

  31. Creating and Modifying a Chart Cont.: When a user activates the Chart Tools Ribbon it provides many different Chart Tools. Several of these include: Design- A user can change the Chart type, Design the Data Entries, layout the chart, and choose a particular style of choice. Layout- A user can change the shape style, WordArt Styles, Arrange the chart, and Size the Chart. Format- A user can Format the Labels, Axes, and Background

  32. Creating and Modifying a Chart Cont.: What is an embedded Chart (Object) in Word 2010? An Embedded Chart is a chart that is placed on a worksheet rather than on a separate chart sheet. An example is below.

  33. Creating and Modifying a Chart Cont.: A user can change from using one chart style to another by clicking the Design Ribbon Tab and then change the Chart Type. You can also use fill color and fill patterns in a chart by clicking the Format Ribbon and then selecting the command Shape Fill. A user can add Data labels and Data Titles to a chart by selecting the Layout Tab under the Chart Tools Ribbon and then selecting the commands under the labels group.

  34. Inserting and Modifying a Screenshot: A screenshot allows a user to insert a picture of any program into a document. However, the program window cannot be minimized in order for a screenshot to be inserted.

  35. Inserting and Modifying a Screenshot: To insert a screenshot a user can go to the Insert Ribbon Tab and select the screenshot command under the illustrations group. A user can also just select a portion of the screen by selecting the Screen Clipping Command and highlight the area you want to copy.
