Methodology • Online survey (administered by McKinley) • Member and non-member lists from ENA • Non-member list contained both “never members” and some “lapsed ENA members” • Sent in mid-December • to 2,500 members and 5,000 non-members • Number of (responding) participants: • 447 members (18% response rate) • (max. sampling error +/- 5 points) • 230 non-members (5% response rate) • (max. sampling error +/- 7 points)

Needs Assessment StudyKey Findings and Strategic Implications 1) Level of Membership Value Increases with Level of Participation Implication:Needs Assessment Study reveals that members who participate in ENA value their memberships more. However, most members are not actively involved with ENA

  8. What Does it All Mean? • Level of membership value increases with participation BUT • Majority of members do not: • Attend ENA conferences • Attend local/state ENA meetings

Needs Assessment StudyKey Findings and Strategic Implications 2) Most Members Prefer Ad Hoc Volunteer Tasks Rather than Long-Term Volunteer Leadership Roles Implication:Needs Assessment Study reveals that a majority of members are not looking for long term leadership positions but for an opportunity to participate on an ad hoc basis

  10. Members Not Looking For Leadership • As level of involvement increases, so does the lack of interest, yet future interest is high in basic participation at the local level
