  2. National Occupational Standards (NOS) describe what you need to do, know and understand to carry out your job competently. They are not qualifications or assessments but are the building blocks for qualifications National Occupational Standards

  3. The National Occupational Standards have been: • streamlined • simplified • written in plain English • presented in a standardised format

  4. As a part of the NOS review Lantra is undertaking research to: gauge the size, structure and workforce characteristics of the trees and timber industry look at industry specific skills and training issues. The research findings will identify issues and current practice.

Women and Work • Funding for training of women in land-based occupations • All training after June 1st and completed by Mid Feb 2011 • £400 for a £650 spend – may be one course or a series of courses • Covers admin and support staff as well as front line troops • Limited number of places available so book now to avoid disappointment • Details on Lantra website
