Cacophony • Cacophonyis a noun that means a harsh or discordant sound. Cacophonyis used to explain that more than one sound annoying sound is in one area. Harshness, discord and jarring are similar to the meaning of cacophony. Accord, consonance, harmony, mean the complete opposite of cacophony. The cacophonyof a basketball game full of fans is annoying to the athletes being yelled at.
