  1. Chapt. 12Solutions Sec. 1Concentration

  2. Units of Concentration I solvent + solute

  3. Units of Concentration II (3) Mole Fraction (Chapt. 6)

  4. Units of Concentration III (4a) Mass Percent (4b) parts per xxx

  5. Example: Unit Conversion The density of a 12.0% sulfuric acid (H2SO4, molar mass = 98.08 g/mol) solution is 1.080 g/mL. What is:(a) the molarity of this solution? (easy)(b) the molality of this solution? (hard)

  6. Student Problem Calculate (a) the molarity (easy) and (b) the mole fraction (hard) of alcohol (C2H5OH, MW= 46.07 g/mol), in a wine that has an alcohol concentration of 7.50 mass percent. Take the density of the solution to be 1.00 g/mL.
