  2. Oral Presentation? • Background Information • What is “human touch”? • What is needed in “human touch”? • In what way “The Last Leaf” has something to do with “human touch” and what does text A advocate? • A life masterpiece

  3. Main Idea Old Behrman saved Johnsy’s life at the expense of his own.

  4. Text organization • List the names of characters in each paragraph. • A story is composed of scenes. Normally a change of character(s) indicates a change in scene. • The text can be divided into scenes according to the changes in character.

  5. Structure • Smell/taste of --- 房间有一股糊味. The room smells of something burnt. --- 这道菜吃起来象鱼,是什么做的? This dish tastes of fish. What is it made of? • By doing sth. ---你把钥匙向右转就能打开门. You can unlock the door by turning the key to the right.

  6. Words and expressions • L.4 in tune / out of tune with --- 这老人的思想与时代保持一致. --- 他是刀子口豆腐心. • L.5 joint studio --- ~venture ~ effort ~ account

Writing: write an argumentation about whether it was worthwhile or not for old Behrman to save young Johnsy’s life in about 150 words. • Introduce the story a bit and show your view point in the beginning; • Prove your points with evidence through examples, comparison and contrast analysis, or cause and effect reasoning; • Restate your viewpoint in the end.
