The Computer Literacy Skills (CLS) program at the University of Windsor provides the necessary tools for the university community to effectively utilize campus computing systems and productivity software. This program incorporates features of both pedagogy and andragogy to meet the diverse needs of adult learners. The program offers voluntary workshops, department-specific workshops, and various training options including instructor-led workshops, Microsoft Interactive Training, and e-learning. The program has shown significant improvements in workshop participation and effectiveness.

CLS - Now • Voluntary workshops are delivered in 90 minute units over the lunch period. • Attendance is ~ 70% staff, 20% staff, 10% faculty. • Departmental specific workshops. • Staff, faculty or student centred.

The First Year… • Instructor Led Workshops • Over 100 workshops delivered to 1000 participants • E-learning • 180 current registrants
Pros • Workshop participation increased by ~ 400% over the previous year. • Workshop feedback indicated that 92% of participants “Strongly Agreed” that the workshops were effective • Delivered departmental specific workshops to six departments.
Improvements • Create effective communication methods on campus. • Deliver workshops on sliding schedules to meet the greatest number of possible participants. • Create an environment of training on campus.
