  2. Inspiration The Legacy Club is all about “studentsHelpingstudents” Popcorn: A professor’s snack that started the Legacy Club’s push towards a food pantry on campus

  3. The Early Days In the spring of 2013 the Legacy Club opens a food pantry in a small alcove, using 3 cabinets to store the food. They begin to serve students confidentially in- between classes.

  5. Planning a Sustainable Resource for Students The college searched for a more permanent location on campus Pic of college

  6. Finding a Community Partner The Family Pantry of Cape Cod located in Harwich, MA agreed to allow Cape Cod Community College to become a satellite location

  7. Working With The Family Pantry of Cape Cod

  8. Building the Infrastructure Two rooms were dedicated to be used for the operation of the Family Pantry of Cape Cod Community College

  9. Policies and Procedures Rules and regulations were set in place

  10. Staffing and Training Volunteers Volunteers complete a variety of duties including; helping clients, ordering and stocking food, cleaning, organizing and advertising for the pantry Project Forward students complete internships at The Family Pantry of 4C’s

  13. Operations • New Clients: • Complete confidential intake form • Receive id number • Receive list of pantries on Cape Cod

  14. Operations Existing clients can come in once a week, they provide their id number to the volunteer on duty and fill up their bag

  15. Stocking Our Shelves Student volunteers drive to Harwich twice a month to pick up food orders from The Family Pantry of Cape Cod

  16. More Than Just Food The Family Pantry of Cape Cod Community College also offers health and beauty aids and diapers

  17. Reliance on Donations We do not take food donations, but we do accept donations of health and beauty aids and diapers. This picture represents the generous donation of diapers by the Cape Cod Community College Nursing Club

  18. Quality Control Volunteers check-in orders to make sure there are no expired items on the shelves

  19. Expansion of Services Thanks to the generosity of The Family Pantry of Cape Cod we were able to offer Thanksgiving Bags to our clients, that we had decorated by a local Girl Scout troop.
