  5. Mechanisms evolved to address the student grievances • Students’ grievances redressal week organized twice in 2008. • Most of the queries related to non-reflection of grades and other related issues almost solved. • Front office desk created where students are heard during full office working hours. Students also get assistance in filling up forms, submit queries and get information from this desk.

  6. Mechanisms evolved for distribution of Study material to the learners • Mechanism for distribution of course material was developed in consultation with the Coordinators/Programme Incharges of Learner Centres in the region and for remote and far flung Learner Centres like Poonch, Rajouri, Sunderbani, Bhalessa, Doda, Kishtwar, Udhampur, Kathua, course material was sent through road transport for distribution to the students in these remote Learner Centres. • The students from Jammu City and the adjoining areas were requested through telephonic messages to come to the Regional Centre for collection of Study material in the 1st week of July, 2008. • The material sent to LSCs for distribution was lifted back in some cases as students did not turn up for collection and the same was then sent by post from our regional centre office.

Good Practices • Mobile numbers of the Coordinators/Programme Incharges and other Part-time staff displayed on our Regional Centre website and also on the admission confirmation letter dispatched to the students. • Regional Centre Jammu issued a blanket “No Objection” for Inter-Regional Transfer of students for all programmes from all other Regions to Regional Centre Jammu. Subsequently, a request was sent to all the Regional Centres in the country not to insist on an NOC from R C Jammu for Inter-Regional Transfer of students to R C Jammu in case of all the programmes including all the practical-oriented programmes. • Training provided to all the staff members and subsequently with the directions as not to keep any work pending for more than a week. All the pending works/issues are checked on Saturdays. • Specific work hours maintained to address the students’ grievances every day.

Informational and Promotional activities undertaken • Press releases and advertisements given in local news papers from time to time • Regional Director attended interactive programmes on Doordarshan twice. • Regional Director attended two programmes on Radio to promote education in far flung areas where education is still out of reach of the masses. • Regional Director attended interactive programmes on local television network twice

  21. Orientation and Training of functionaries of Regional Centre and Learner Centre functionaries undertaken in the Year 2008 • One day discipline based Orientation Programme for the Academic Counsellors and Programme Incharges of DNA Programme was held on 29th March, 2008 29th March, 2008 at Jammu in collaboration with School of Health Sciences. Prof. Bimla Kapoor and Ms. Laxmi were the resource persons for the said programme. • One day Orientation Programme for the Academic Counsellors of PGDMCH Programme was organized in IGNOU Programme Study Centre 1245-P, Govt. Medical College on 5th April, 2008. Dr. T.K. Jena, from the school of Health Sciences, IGNOU, New Delhi was the resource person. • One-day Orientation Programme for the Coordinators/PICs and Academic Counselors of the Learner Support Centres established from 01/01/07 to 31/12/07 at Deptt. Of Environment Sciences, University of Jammu on 2nd of May, 2008. Prof. B A Khan, Hon’ble Pro-Vice Chancellor IGNOU was the Chairman of the day. Prof. C B Sharma, School of Education, Prof. Basanthi Pradhan, STRIDE, Dr. A S Guha, RSD IGNOU Headquarters, were the resource persons. Coordinators, Programme Incharges and Counsellors from Karnal, Khanna and Jammu Regional Centres participated. • One-Day Orientation Programme of Academic Counsellors of MA Education was held on 03rd December, 2008 in the Seminar Hall, University of Jammu. Prof. M.L. Koul was the resource person from the School of Education, IGNOU, New Delhi.
