  5. On California roads, talking on a cell phone while driving is illegal. Before this passed on July 1, 2008, everybody talked on cell phones while driving without even thinking about it. As a result, in 2007, more automobile accidents were attributed to it than drunk driving. This proves that a statewide law was a totally good thing. Now, anyone who is caught doing it will receive a big fine. Furthermore, if people cause an accident while doing it, they can go to jail for awhile. However, you should remember that the important thing is not the punishment you might receive, but the other people you might put in danger because of your selfishness. The same goes for texting. Effective January 1, 2009, anyone who does it will get busted big time. I agree with these laws because it has caused too many fatal accidents in California. People need to get real when they drive.

  6. On California roads, talking on a cell phone while driving is illegal. Before this law passed on July 1, 2008, many motorists talked on cell phones while driving without even thinking about the dangerous consequences. As a result, in 2007, more automobile accidents were attributed to cell phone use than drunk driving. This statistic proves that a statewide law was necessary for the protection of its citizens. Now, a driver who is caught using a cell phone while driving will receive a $50 fine. Furthermore, if motorists cause an accident while talking on a cell phone, they can go to jail for two months or more. However, California drivers should remember that the liability is not the punishment they might receive, but the other innocent lives they might put in danger because of their selfishness. The state views texting while driving just as seriously. Effective January 1, 2009, California drivers who text behind the wheel may be fined or imprisoned. I agree with these laws because texting and cell phone use have caused too many fatal accidents in California. Drivers need to check their conscience when they drive.
