  3. INTRODUCTION-PAINTING SPRAYER • Painting Sprayer is a painting device which is used to sprays a coating (paint, ink, varnish, etc.) through the air onto a surface. • It uses air as a main source to spray the paint in the required area. • It is working on the principle behind the atomization of the fluid mixture at the tip of the nozzle. Main components of Painting Sprayer: • Electric Blower • Spray Gun • Air Hoses

  4. ELECTRIC BLOWER • Electric Blower is generally known as Air Blower. It uses centrifugal force to propel the air forward. • Inside a centrifugal air blower is a wheel with small blades on the circumference and a casing to direct the flow of air into the center of the wheel and outward to the edge. • The design of the blades will affect how the air is propelled and how efficient the blower is.

  5. CROSS SECTION OF THE AIR BLOWER

  6. SPRAY GUN • Spray gun is a device used to spray the air – paint mixture. • Spray guns all have one common thing – the atomization o fluid at the tip where the paint leaves fluid nozzle. • There are two passages in a spray gun. They are one for air passage and one for fluid. • Atomization is achieved by a vacuum formed by the air rushing past the fluid passage • At this point, air is mixed with fluid and spray mist ejects from the nozzle.

  7. TYPES OF SPRAY GUN • Conventional spray gun • Gravity feed spray gun • HVLP • LVLP

  8. CONVENTIONAL SPRAY GUN • In conventional spray gun container or aerosel can is placed at the bottom of the gun and feed is given by the bottom. • It requires the high pressure air only given by the air compressor. • Compressor air uses such as high viscosity that some of the solids are pushed away from the object and produce lost in paint particles.

  9. GRAVITY FEED SPRAY GUN • In gravity feed spray gun works behind the principle of gravity flow. • In this type feed to the gun is provided at the top of the gun. • It requires the low pressure to work and the pressure is given by the air blower is enough to spray.

  10. BLOWER SELECTION • Safe and maximum system working pressure • Rated blower performance • Volumetric and overall efficiency • Operating reliability and durability • Cost and economic factors • Manufacturing characteristics : Component clearances and fit

  11. OBJECTIVE • This project is about the Painting Sprayer. • The difference between the ordinary sprayer and our sprayer is source of air which given by the air blower instead of air compressor. • This will reduce the space and size of the instrument. • Use of electric blower reduces the effort of the worker.

  15. BILL OF MATERIAL

  16. FABRICATION • The electric blower is connected with the gravity feed spray gun with the help of air hose. • The nozzle for the blower is connected with blower and it reduces the output diameter of the blower. • From the nozzle air hose is joined with help of air hose connectors. • After that the output of the air hose is fixed with the input of the spray gun with the help of connectors. • All the joints are tightened by the steel clips.

  17. ASSEMBLY OF THE PAINTING SPRAYER

  18. WORKING PRINCIPLE • The blower is a basically a turbine driven from the engines crank shaft. • The blower intakes air, compresses it and forces it under high pressure. • The result is a very large increase in power. Because a blower forces large amount of air into the motor and gives output as high pressure air.

  19. COST ESTIMATION

  20. COMPARISON ORDINARY PAINTING SPRAYER VOLTAGE=247V CURRET =2.08A NO LOAD SPEED= 10000 rpm NO LOAD CONDITION CURRENT=1.96A BLOWING RATE = 2.1 M3/min OUR PAINTING SPRAYER VOLTAGE=230v CURRET =2.1A NO LOAD SPEED= 13000rpm NO LOAD CONDITION CURRENT=1.98A BLOWING RATE = 2.3 M3/min

  21. Comparison chart

  22. ADVANTAGES • It uses a centrifugal blower; it can create vacuum pressure by itself. • Speed is more • Space requirement is less • Power consumption is low • It will available for low cost • It will replace the space of air compressor by doing the same work. • Surface finish is high • It will be used in a complicated area

  23. APPLICATION • It is used in automobile industries. • It is also used for cleaning purpose. • It is used for commercial purposes due to its portability. • It is also used for personal purposes at home.

  24. FINAL PRODUCT SPECIFICATION • TYPE: CENTRIFUGAL • VOLTAGE: 230 V • POWER : 600W • SPEED : 13000 rpm • BLOWING RATE : 2.3m3/min

  25. CONCLUSION & FUTURE SCOPE • We completed the project successfully by using electric blower instead of air compressor with 25% of reduced time when compared to other paint sprayer. • There is an increased heat generation while running due to sudden contraction of blower output but we have an idea for rectifying this problem in future by reducing the sudden contraction level.  • The cost of this project is comparatively low when it will be mass produced. If the problems are rectified, this will have a good scope in future and become a completely successful one.
