  1. PAINTING MYTHS – PAINTING TRICKS

  2. The 6 Most Common Myths About House Painting • Over the years, we have heard some outlandish things from our customers about house painting colours. And while we aren’t sure where these myths and wild notions originated, we feel it’s important to set people straight so they can avoid total painting catastrophes. • So in today’s post, we are going to put our decades of house painting experience to practical use for our visitors and bust some of the most common myths about house painting.

  3. Myth #1 – Primer is not Necessary: • The only time primer is not necessary is when you are using a 2-in-1 paint/primer that already has primer in it. In all other cases, primer is still necessary. We cannot stress that enough. Primer is essential to achieve a smooth, uniform finish and to ensure that the house painting colors adhere to the surface properly. But what if you intend to use multiple coats of paint? Doesn’t matter. Primer is still 100% necessary.

  4. Myth #2 – Any Paint will Work on Any Surface: • We have seen people try to use interior paint to paint their furniture and the outsides of their house. The fact is that they make so many different kinds of paint for a reason: different surfaces require different paint properties. You cannot use interior paint for the outside of your house or vice versa.

  5. Myth #3 – I don’t need to Prep Walls if I’m Using Primer: • It doesn’t matter how much you spent on your primer; they simply don’t make a primer that can work over dirty or busted walls. Before you prime and paint any surface, you should at least clean it thoroughly with a mild detergent and water to remove as much debris as possible. Debris between the wall and the primer will make it very hard to achieve a clean finish with your paint.

  6. Myth #4 – Dark Colours Make a Room look Smaller: • Simply not the case. While a dark painted room can appear smaller depending on the way you light and decorate it, this effect has more to do with lighting and décor than it does with the colour of the paint.

  7. Myth #5 – Painting is not Necessary Before a Home Sale: • This one is actually true – if you want to lose out on a bunch of money. But if you want an affordable way to increase the value of your home by a significant margin, you should invest in professional painting. Just a few relatively minor painting projects can up the value of your home by as much as $6,000.

  8. Myth # 6 – All House Painting Projects are DIY Projects: • Unless you have the right tools, are a colour expert, have zero wall prep work to do, and have effusive free time on your hands, some painting projects are simply better left to professionals. • Don’t fall victim to the above house painting myths. And to ensure a perfect project, be sure to work with us here at Century Painting. Call now for a fast and free estimate. • Source: https://www.centurypaintingnc.com/
