  1. Henna Painting September 30. We welcomed Anjali, Anya’s Mom, to our room today who shared with us one of the traditions from India. Anjali joined us at our morning meeting to tell us about this special painting, only for women and children, which is from henna which is a plant. The designs will stay on your hand for about a week. These paintings are done if it is your birthday, a holiday or a special celebration. It is for luck and joy. If you are getting married you may even have designs on your feet and stomach. Sometimes horses and camels have their hooves painted like this.

  2. Anjali also showed us some beautiful Bindi’s which are worn on the forehead.

  3. We looked at all the beautiful designs. Some children began designing their own.We had to sit very still as Anjali carefully drew on our hand.

  4. Thank you Anjali for painting our hands. We found out that there is another clever use for our hands!
