  2. What does “Stylized” mean? • Following a particular style or method of painting - rather than trying to represent reality.

  3. The style can be simple or more complex.

  4. It can emphasize color or line.

  5. Whatever style you choose it needs to be consistent through out the painting.

  6. How do I find ideas for different styles? • Look at different artists like Henri Rousseau.

  9. . . . Or Chuck Close.

  10. . . . Or Grandma Moses.

  11. . . . Or Peter Max

  12. . . . Or Jim Dine.

  13. Think about different art movements, like Impressionism.

  16. Illustrators and cartoonists often have distinctive styles, like Arthur Rackham.

  17. For your painting you will be looking at the 7 elements of art: • Line • Shape • Color • Texture • Value • Form • Space

  18. You will choose 2 of the elements to alter in some way. THE REST OF THE ELEMENTS STICK TO REALISM. • What elements did this artist alter?

  21. Which elements were altered in these art works by SHHS students?

  22. So, pick what you want to paint then: • Write down which 2 elements you will alter. • Describe exactly how you will alter them. • Decide the steps you will go through to accomplish you art work. • Draw some thumb nail sketches to plan composition.
