Concept : Carbonyl and terminal methyl do not stabilize transition and that the gel liquid is dominated by chain melting Extrapolates to 151oC polymethylene (138oC mp) Extrapolates to n = 4.8 at 0K, implies you need at least 5 carbon atoms in chain for an organized assembled structure

  5. DxPC Need at least 8C to have lamellar structures, smaller acyl chains form micelles
