Western Agriculture 2012-Style

2012 was a year of contrasts for Western agriculture, marked by flooding and drought, wildfires, and volatile commodity prices. As the Colorado Farm Bureau’s Public Policy Director, Nicholas Colglazier addresses critical issues affecting the sector, including labor shortages due to immigration regulations, water resource management, and the burdens of overly stringent rules and regulations. Despite these challenges, there are positive signs: high land values, rising commodity prices, and a growing demand for agricultural products as young people return to farming.
