Expansion Of The Empire Notes • Ghana was in control of West Africa’s trade routes in 800 • Kings used their great wealth to build a powerful army • Conquered many trade center neighbors • Made Ghana richer and larger • Couldn’t manage all their land so they let some of the conquered kings act as governors of the territories • Reached it’s peak under Tunka Manin’s rule
