  1. Continuum of care Committee Connecting and Sharing Information August 13, 2013

Continuum of Care • Housing Action Illinois and SHPA co-host the Continuum of Care Committee. • CSH, IHDA, DCEO and IACAA staff also participate, as well as members of every Continua around the state. • Only statewide forum for Continua. • The CoC Committee continues to maintain a “Google Group”. It has facilitated discussion and information sharing. If you are interested in joining this Group, let Lore Baker know.

  3. HEARTH ACT IMPLEMENTATION The Continuum of Care Committee continues to focus this year on HEARTH Act Implementation and ways to move the homeless system forward across Illinois.

  4. Continuum of Care CommitteeRecent Activities Hearth Trainings Completed Events paid for by IDHS and presented in partnership with CSH): - Marion: April 17-18 - Springfield: May 9-10 - Peoria : May 13-14 - Rockford: May 16-17 - Chicago: May 21–22 HEARTH Follow Up - CSH and SHPA are scheduling follow up technical assistance from Training Sessions to be completed over the Summer and early Fall. SHPA and CSH will provide basic HEARTH informational webinars during the next six months.

Continuum of Care CommitteeRecent Activities • Federal Actions - Approximately 75 Illinoisans attended the NAEH Conference in Washington D.C. - Advocacy visits were made to the Illinois Congressional delegation. • State Actions - Funding for Homeless Youth up 12%. - Funding for Emergency and Transitional Housing up 3%. - Homeless Prevention services- flat funding - Supportive Housing funding increased by $1.2 Million.

Continuum of care CommitteEMore Recent Activities Ad Hoc Committee on Homelessness formed: • to improve strategies for working toward ending homelessness • to coordinate efforts of State Departments, local Continua of Cares and other key stakeholders • to advance the cause of ending homelessness in Illinois. Google Group • SHPA continues to host the ongoing Google Group for CoC s • to advance the cause of ending homelessness in Illinois. CABHI Grant • IDHS has applied for a Cooperative Agreements to Benefit Homeless Individuals for States (CABHI-States) which in SHPA and others will assist the state in developing a State Interagency Council on Homelessness.

  7. Continuum of care Committee • Meets on the Fourth Thursday of the Month at 10am via conference call. • Anyone who is involved with their local continuum of care is invited to attend and participate. • Simply fill out the Get On Board With SHPA form and return it to Lore Baker. • Google Group • If you wish to enroll in the Google Group. Indicate that on your Get On Board With SHPA form.
