  3. Hopi pray to the spirit of the rain and the successful growth of crops. • Pottery was decorated with symbols of water, rain clouds and animals that live in the water. This practice honored the water and the spirit of animals

  4. Molds • Coiling was the traditional method of pot building. The bottom of a pot was first formed in a base mold, a basket , a broken pot or a puki(a specially shallow bowl.
