Among the few, Magento, the open source PHP based platform developed by the US based Varien Inc has found increased salience. In fact, according to the 2013 internet retailer top 1000, Europe 500, and B2B 300, Magento with over 22% market share, is the number 1 eCommerce platform in the world (Refer:https://www.vaimo.fi/magento/miksi-valita-magento.) However, notwithstanding Magento or Magento 1.0’s flexibility with functions or coding chops, it suffers from some issues as well:  Not user friendly due to the absence of a full page cache

Let’s discuss why the new version of Magento is better: Let’s discuss why the new version of Magento is better: Faster load time: As Magento 2.0 has a built in full page caching mechanism, product and other pages load faster. As against 5 – 10 seconds of earlier loading time the pages can now load in mere 1 – 2 seconds. This means customers do not need to wait endlessly to see catalogue and other pages, thus resulting in a better user experience. Mobile friendly: With an increased number of users accessing e commerce sites on their smartphones, the new version of Magento is more responsive to the mobile platform. Besides, it is more SEO friendly as well, which helps businesses to better their SEO rankings. Improved checkout process: More customers abandon their carts on finding the checkout process cumbersome and painfully slow. Magento 2.0 has taken a note of this and made the checkout procedure seamless. To give an example, while checking out customers need to enter an email address. And if the said address matches with that of an existing customer the check out is done faster. This reduces the time lag during check out and helps increase the conversion rates. As customers derive better user experience their likelihood of coming back to the site increases. Interface to popular payment gateways: Payment gateways are an important part of any eCommerce platform. And with the increasing popularity of digital wallets as alternative payment options (in addition to cards and net banking) integrating the same go a long way in improving the user experience. Hence, in addition to PayPal from the previous edition, Magento 2.0 has seen the inclusion of Braintree as well, a new payment gateway. Moreover, security has been further strengthened with the integration of Cybersource and Worldpay, the noted payment processing companies. Improved Admin experience: Managing your site from the backend won’t be difficult now for the new version has features such as:  An improved touch friendly design with a new navigation bar  Introduction of new data grids with a drag and drop feature  Improved filtering criteria and incorporation of forms make administering the site easy  Simplification of the product creation process by adding four product templates
