  2. What is a Conjunction? • A conjunction is a word that joins a words or a groups of words. or and but for nor yet so

Identifying Conjunctions • Oxford and Cambridge are universities in England. • Students can study English or history. • Oxford is more famous, but Cambridge is nearly as good! • They go to school so they can get a job. Conjunctions often create sentences with COMPOUND SUBJECTS & COMPOUND PREDICATES

  4. Diagramming Compound Subjects: • Oxford and Cambridge are universities in England. Oxford and are universities in England Cambridge If a CONJUNCTION appears in the subject, the sentence has a COMPOUND SUBJECT The conjunction goes on a dotted line that joins the two parts of the subject.
