  1. Silent Dancers Silent Dancers Analysis I have been reading Judith Orditz Cofer's Silent Dancers the essay for a week and have been enchanted yet fascinated by the story. I loved the essay was written in two different types of fonts. The italicized version is referring to the home movie that Cofer is watching with her mother. The regular font is more of Cofer's narrative and commentary about the lives they lived form immigrating from Puerto–Rico to Paterson New Jersey. One thing I noticed is how Cofer is watching and perceiving the home movie differently than her mother. Cofer sees the three women sitting side by side and they are all wearing red dresses, but they are very different from each other. The three women sitting on the couch is Cofer's mother,...show more content... After carefully reading the paragraphs once more I was able to identify the narration of the voices from the Aunt and the 18–year–old cousin. When the cousin speaks she talk about not being primitive growing up in America. She see's herself as American and hates the traditional customs of her family. The cousin goes into detail about her plans for the future and her American boyfriend who is older than she is. Truth be told the boyfriend is her high school history teacher and the cousin is impregnated by him. Later her family found out about it and had to have an abortion which is very gruesome by detail. When the Aunt speaks she continues the story about the 18–year–old cousin she is severely punished and is sent back to Puerto–Rico. The aunt describes it as the irony of all ironies because the cousin has been to a remote village to live a relative on her mother side of the family they now call her la gringa "is what she always wanted to be ha ha ha". The Aunt is amused by the scandal because it sent her ex –husband back to the bottle which was karma for leaving her on the island and marrying another ...Get more content on HelpWriting.Net...

  2. Serenea by Ron Rash In life there is jealousy and revenge with in all people. In the book Serena by Ron Rash many underlying conflicts are addressed but jealousy and what a person will do to overcome that jealousy prevails as it does throughout life. Throughout the book Ron Rash leads the reader down a windy path of what Serena will do in order to gain the power and to get back at the people who cost her the most. She uses death and many other vengeful techniques to scare away and hurt the people who have caused her the most problems. Pemberton also gets revenge on the people who cause him hurt and problems rather than letting the problems solve themselves. Galloway acts out so many of her and Pemberton's revenge killings without hesitation. Ron Rash is trying to show that with life there are many different ways people show their jealousy and revenge. Like when the book tells of when Serena and Pemberton arrive in North Carolina, Serena has a tinge of jealousy when dealing with Rachel and the unborn child. Although Pemberton kills Rachel's father, Serena still has some tension with her in the beginning. Serena says to Rachel, "By all rights it belongs to my husband. It's a fine knife, and you can get a good price for it if you demand one, and I would. Sell it, I mean. That money will help when the child is born. It's all you'll ever get from my husband and me" (Rash 10). This sets the idea of Serena's jealousy of Rachel and although she is carrying a child Serena encourages the death of her ...Get more content on HelpWriting.Net...

  3. Ortiz-Cofer's Analysis Ortiz–Cofer's essay reveals that her insecurities causes herself to envy others. The toga, she is forced to wear, is a perfect example of her self–doubt making her jealous: "I felt foolish in my awkwardly draped sheet... my mother had no great skill as a seamstress.... Other Roman ladies [emerged]... looking authentic in sheets... that folded over their bodies like the garments on a statue by Michaelangelo. How was it that I always got it just slightly wrong, and worse" (14). The way the author describes her mother proves that she blames her mother for making her look different from the others and because of this she is insecure and becomes envious of the other girls. The girls make her feel foolish and insecure. Her feelings of insecurity exaggerates ...Get more content on HelpWriting.Net...

  4. Katy Thatcher's The Silent Boy The Silent Boy on 15–Feb–2016 Tushar rated : ★★★★☆ Katy Thatcher was the bright and curious daughter of the town doctor. She was fascinated by her father's work, and even as a child she knew that she too wanted to be a doctor. She wanted to know about people. Perhaps it was this, her insatiable curiosity, or simply the charm of Jacob's gentle intimacy with animals large and small, that fueled their friendship. Although Jacob never spoke to her or even looked at her directly, Katy grew to understand him from the moments they spent together quietly singing to the horses. She knew there was meaning in the sounds he made and purpose behind his movements. So when events took an unexpected and tragic turn, it was Katy alone who could unravel the ...Get more content on HelpWriting.Net...

  5. Friel's 'Dancing At Lughnasa' Both Friel and Bryce portray that even through memories one cannot escape their reality and is still trapped in their existence as it is not as one wishes it was. 'Dancing at Lughnasa' is a memory play therefore, it is appropriate that memory plays a key theme throughout. Although it does, Friel maintains it as an underlying theme, which is only spoken about at the end of the play. He speaks of memory often through Michaels monologues as he states, 'What fascinates [him] about that memory is that it owes nothing to fact. In that memory atmosphere is more real than incident and everything is simultaneously actual and illusory' he often recognizes that memories simply offer a chance at recollection and that perhaps memories are not all in all ...Get more content on HelpWriting.Net...

  8. Dance Essay Dance A series of set of movements to music, either alone or with a partner. That is the definition of dancing. Dancing is a way to express one's feeling and to get active. Dance has been a part of human history since the earliest records of human life. Cave paintings found in Spain and France dating from 30,000 –10,000 BC. have vivid drawings of dancing figures in association with ritual illustrating the pesents of dance in early human society. Many people around the world see life as a dance from the movements of the heavens and the turn of the seasons to the unique dance of every creature. The history of dance reflects the changes in the way people see the world, relate to their bodies and experience the cycles of life. In India...show more content... These dances eventually evolved to include praise songs and myths that were enacted by trained dancers and actors. By the end of the 5th century BC, these dance dramas were part of entertainment and provided social and political commentary on the times. Amongst the Romans, dance waxed and waned in acceptance by the powers that ruled. Until 200 BC, dance brought life to Roman processions, festivals and celebrations. However, in 150 BC all of the dancing schools were closed as Roman nobility considered dance as suspicious and even dangerous activity of the masses. Dancing has come a long way since ancient times. But there are still some similarities. When people thought up these dances they were trying to express themselves, their emotions, their problems and beliefs. Today we do the same thing. We make up dances according to our attitudes, beliefs, thoughts and feelings. The future will also contain dances that will reflect that society. There are many different kinds of dances. There is ballet, line dancing, slow dancing, the list goes on and on. Some of these dances are slow. Some of them are fast. They all use different type of instruments. Each dance representing a time, an event, an expression or feeling. Each dance expressing something different. Dances will never die. They are too interconnected in the ...Get more content on HelpWriting.Net...
