  1. Bristol – Gateway to the West. Literacy This term, year 5/6 will be telling traditional tales, using Pie Corbett ‘Talk For Writing’, with links to Ghana. We will be writing settings, character profiles and include work on metaphor, simile and personification, using storytelling as a starting point. We will be using our topic theme as a stimulus for different forms of writing including diary entries, letters and recounts. There will also be some revision for SATs. Art Banksy – as a world leader in Graffiti and stencil art, we will look at/appraise and try to emulate Banksy’s style and techniques, culminating in our own ‘guerilla’ exhibition. Summer Term 1, 2013 Year 5 and 6 Designers Inspired by Brunel, Britain’s greatest engineer, we will study bridge design, testing load bearing, rigidity of 3d nets and resulting in an awe- inspiring Inspire Day.
