  3. Pre-Discharge Program • Types of Pre-Discharge Claims: Benefits Delivery at Discharge (BDD)Quick Start • Integrated Disability Evaluation System (IDES) December 2008

  4. Benefits Delivery at Discharge (BDD) ClaimsServicemember must: Have 60-180 days remaining in service Submit a copy of service treatment records (STRs) or health treatment records Be available at point of separation to undergo VA exam(s) December 2008

  5. QUICK START CLAIMSThe Quick Start program serves Service members who do not qualify for BDD because they: • Have less than 60 days before separation/retirement • Are not available for VA examinations at the point of separation December 2008

  6. Pre-Discharge Program How to apply:Submit VA Form 21-526c, Pre-Discharge Compensation Claim, or other applicable forms • Provide original or copy of STRs • Provide known date of separation or retirement • Submit a permanent address, phone number, and email address December 2008

  7. Pre-Discharge Program • Service members can submit BDD or Quick Start packets anywhere VA accepts claims. • This includes: • VA Regional Offices • Intake sites on military installations • VA medical facilities • VA claim workshops • Veterans Service Organizations December 2008
