  7. Here to help…The Board of Finance As a limited company the Board supports the business operations of the Diocese and provides statistical and financial information for the Bishop, Bishop’s Staff, Bishop’s Council and Diocesan Synod. • Income - £11.1 m • Expenditure - £10.54 m

  9. Here to help…Clergy housing The Property Committee undertake the care of parsonage housing as part of the pastoral support of the clergy in their parishes. Around 50 vicarages are inspected and necessary improvements and repairs undertaken each year. Around 30 additional houses are made ready for incoming incumbents.

  10. Here to help…Managing land Land primarily held for investment purposes to generate income for the Diocese to go towards clergy pay.  • 5,843 acres • Rented out to 317 tenants • Income of around £670,000 towards clergy stipends

  11. Here to help…Church buildings The DAC is a body of experts who advise parishes and the Chancellor of the Diocese over alterations to church buildings, furnishings, churchyards, etc. Around 270 faculties are granted each year

  12. Here to help…Communications & IT We help churches with: • press enquires • promoting news & events • social media & websites • noticeboards & branding We also: • produce publications • develop the website • work on campaigns

  14. The Horstead Centre The Diocesan centre for residential stays and activity days. Providing a place for young people to develop their spiritual, physical, intellectual and social capacities withina caring Christian community. Approximately 3,000 children and young people visit Horstead every year from over 70 schools and youth groups.

  15. Here to help…Children, Youth & Families Supporting and resourcing the parishes in their ministry to children and families. Providing training for worship, child protection and skills for 1500 clergy and leaders and continuing to resource, advise and encourage children’s leaders and clergy. Diocesan youth events attract hundreds of children.

Here to help…Schools We support over 110 church schools & academies; almost a quarter of Norfolk's schools serving 14,500 young people. • We enrich, serve & support schools: • distinctiveness and ethos • community and governors • training for clergy, teachersand governors • And provide professional advice on: • buildings • governance • headteacher recruitment • inspections

  21. PCC News direct costs • 4 page issue: £2,500 (£7,500pa) • 8 page issue: £2,900 (£8,700pa) • Slightly less than budgeted due to savingson bulk mail postage • Sent to 4,200 people (at 3,900 addresses) • 11p to print; 39p to post; 10p to process • 60p total cost per copy

  22. PCC News feedback • PCC News feedback is excellent • Many testimonials by email, letter, telephoneand verbally • How to do/run project information very popular • Only 3 negative comments (out of 100 or so)but only about postage cost, not content

PCC News: where next? • Editorial Team in place to ensure content is correct. • We include adverts from suitable companies • Parishes already offering their own success stories to be included • Ensuring we keep to the brief-no bishops ! • Topical but not controversial-good proof reading required

  24. What else can PCC News do? • Provide finance and fundraising guidance to parishes • Support, promote and encourage teachingon Stewardship and Christian giving atparish level • Promote the development of legacy income

Progress • ALL parishes have reported an increase in regular giving, some very significant • £17,000+ in one benefice • £4,500 in another that had no history of stewardship • 24 Stewardship/Christian giving events • 57 Parish gift days for the wider community • 17 further gift days in planning
