MSME in India – A snapshot • Over 13 million units - employ about 42 million workforce • 6000 Products ranging from traditional to high tech • Accounts for 45% of total manufacturing output and 40% of total exports, in terms of value • 10 - 13 % growth rate in the last 5 Years – much higher than overall industrial growth • Sectors like Auto-components, Life Sciences, IT etc. are among the world leaders © Confederation of Indian Industry

Government Key Initiatives • Definition and Coverage has been broadened significantly under the Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises Development (MSMED) Act 2006 • National Manufacturing Competitiveness Programme • Cluster Development Programme • Support to Universities running EDP • Micro Finance & Credit Guarantee © Confederation of Indian Industry

Important Achievements – IP Protection • CII-APTDC facilitated more than 250 IPR Services to industry & Institutes – Patentability Assessment Report, Prior Art Analysis, Intellectual Property Protection, IPR Counseling & Advisory Services. • CII facilitated the Geographical Indication (GI) Registration of Pochampally Ikat the first in traditional Sector) & Kondapally Toys (First hand made toy from AP) & Silver Filigree of Karimnagar (a Unique Silver Work from Andhra Pradesh). © Confederation of Indian Industry
