  2. The first Americans came from Asia. These are the people we know as Native Americans, they crossed over to North America by land bridge. The First Americans

  3. Many different European countries paid for explorations for many different reasons. Some of the reasons that they explored were: To find a sea route to the spices of Asia To find gold, silver, and precious stones To expand their knowledge of the world To control a larger empire To expand Christianity To find animal furs European Exploration

  4. The first known European explorers to arrive on the continent, Vikings from Scandinavia led by Leif Eriksson (c. 970–1020), appeared around 1000 C.E. and established a temporary settlement in the present-day Canadian province of Newfoundland. European Exploration2
