NOAA Space Weather Scales Barbara Poppe NOAA Space Environment Center The NOAA Space Weather Scales were quickly adopted by the media and the space weather community because of their ability to convey the effects and severity of space weather. They have become a foundation of SEC products, which reach international partners and customers. The scales,currently in English, Spanish, French, and Japanese, are being translated into other languages and will be used by students and scientists around the world.
