  1. Art Criticism: By:Pablo Barrera Maldonado

  2. Description: “Relativity” The Lithograph Print, by M.C. Escher in 1953.In this lithogragh M.C. Esher shows no normal laws of gravity applied. The structure seems to be the centre of a busy or working community, with most of its people living and minding their ordinary business, such as dining. There are windows and doorways leading to the park outdoors. All of the figures are dressed in the same attire and have bulb-shaped heads. Identical characters such as these can be found in many other Escher works. In this lithograph by escher shows elements. As we see on the staircases M.C. Escher carefully controls the light source and value to enhance the illusion of 3D.And he even made the characters basically the same as he did with the staircase.but in my opinion I think that M.C. Escher was trying to fool peoples minds and was trying to make people think about the lithograph

  3. Analysis: I think that M.C. Escher used a variety of strategies and design to make the artwork “Relativity” a lithograph print. In my opinion I think that the people (characters) in the lithograph is the thing that stands out to me the most. The reason why is because he made me see it in in many different ways. M.C. Eschers made his artwork a little complicated(a little hard to understand what people were looking at),made people think, made people ask questions to themselves or to one another, kind of made people look closer to and pay attention at what they were looking at.

  4. Interpretation: The amazing lithograph that M.C. Escher created made me fell was that he was trying to make us look closer to his art work to find some kind of exit or starting point in his lithograph. The more I see the masterpiece the more realistic it becomes. This lithograph makes me think of math because according to research they say he was known for doing perspective tricks, tessellation, and space warping.Which most of the following is required to use mathematical thinking.

  5. Judgment: In my opinion, M.C. Escher's artwork was very successful. The reason why I think that was a success is because he made many people wonder and gave them something to think about when they were observing the lithograph. What makes M.C. Escher's artwork so impactful was that he had his own technique and designs. For example the way he used the lines, he connected them and made staircases and the other things surrounding it look like they were in 3D.Now that we know where the light sources are we can look at the shading Escher used to create forms that look solid. He uses lots of cross hatching and feathering in his figures and in the structures.
