  2. And I was there! I played Kwik Cricket at a Test Match, The excitement was in the air. Bell hit the ball in to outer space, And I was there! Gracing turf of the test match ground, With my classmates the moment I could share. England verged on an Ashes test match win, And I was there!

  3. The Bat’s storyI see the lightHe grips me tightI imagine smiles and sneersBut lie before me, happiness and tearsHe’s standing beside the stumpsI’m beginning to get goose bumpsWill he hit it?Or will he hit the wicket? He lifts me higherHis grip gets tighterIn a second I blinkAnd I begin to sink

  4. The BowlerWith hands frim to the gripI’m ready to rollWith ball in my handI’m going to bowlI start my long run upKeeping it steadyI’m near to the wicketsAnd almost readyI pitch the ball a slight to the rightIt curls to the wicketsAt just the right heightThe batter looks worriedHe knows he can’t hit itIt misses the batAnd smashes the wicketOUT!

  5. The lads pull upOn the coach the team anticipate,Finally it comes, the match day, the date. The team coach pulls up,Past the people with a ticket,Now we’re ready to play some cricket.Me, the captain has chosen to bat,Now what do the bowlers say to that?In they charge with the ball in grip,Now I’m ready to let it rip!I hit the ball over the stands,Now the crowd start to clap their hands!

  6. Calypso PoemCricket lovely cricketOn a beach where I played itWith those little pals of mineUnder the tropical sunshineThe palm trees waving at meAnd all the sea for my boundary.Cricket lovely cricketOn a beach where I played itHere is where many greats beginTo learn the art of bounce and spinAnd every time you hook a fourHear the seagulls cheering for more.Cricket lovely cricketOn a beach where I played itBrown sand was our village greenThe trade winds spectating the sceneI bet even Lord’s cricket groundDon’t have palm trees all around.By John Agard

  7. The Ashes urn poemThe Ashes"When Ivo goes back with the urn, the urn;Studds, Steel, Read and Tylecote return, return; The welkin will ring loud,The great crowd will feel proud,Seeing Barlow and Bates with the urn, the urn;And the rest coming home with the urn.”The poem is about the stars of the England team that won the Ashes tour in 1882/83 . The names mentioned in the poem are Ivo Bligh (the captain), Charles Studds (all-rounder), Allan Steel (all-rounder), Walter Read (right arm fast bowler), Edmund Tylecote (the wicket-keeper), Richard Barlow (opening bat), and William Bates (right arm off-spinner).
