Understanding Percents and Fractions: Definitions and Conversions

This guide explains the concepts of percents and fractions, highlighting their definitions, comparisons, and conversion methods. A percent is a ratio that compares a number to 100, meaning "per 100". For example, 49 out of 100 is written as 49%. Learn how to convert percents into fractions by placing the percent number over 100 and simplifying. Additionally, discover how to express fractions as percents by creating a proportion with a denominator of 100, or by dividing the numerator by the denominator and converting the result to a percent.
