  2. Summary • it Is right after world war II in Russia. Mikhail finds a dying soldier and his dog, he brings them to his mom. When the man dies they give the body to the police but keep the dog because this dog- Zasha- is a German Shepherd and people might kill it if they find out about it. They might kill it because they just got out of war with the German but Katia thinks that there is a dog and so does Dimitri.

  3. The characters • Zasha- A very smart and loving dog who was found with Pter. • Mikail- A brave boy who when he sees Zasha’s owner in the woods helps him and who helps save Zasha • Dimitri- a soldier who is trying to breed a new Russian dog who suspects that Mikhail and his family are keeping Zasha a secret. • Katia- a girl who wants to be a reporter and who is also Mikhail's rival suspect the Mikhail is keeping a dog.
