  2. Australian 60 GHz Regulation ACMA – Australian Communications and Media Authority Before 1 July 2005 was governed by ACA Pollock and Skafidas, NICTA

  3. Class Licence… • sets out conditions under which any person is permitted to operate • is not issued to an individual user • does not involve payment of licence fees • authorise users of designated segments of spectrum to operate on a shared basis Pollock and Skafidas, NICTA

  4. LIPD Low Interference Potential Device • Authorises operation of a wide range of low power radiocommunication devices in various segments of the spectrum • Transmitters do not require individual frequency coordination for interference management Pollock and Skafidas, NICTA

  5. Proposed 60 GHz LIPD Class License • Band 59.4 – 62.9 GHz • Maximum EIRP limited to 150W • Peak transmitter power limited to 10mW • Limited to terrestrial situations Pollock and Skafidas, NICTA

  6. Pollock and Skafidas, NICTA

  7. Current Status • Proposed variation to LIPD call for comment recently undertaken by ACMA • Proposed: • Band 59.4 - 62.9 GHz • Maximum EIRP 150W • Peak transmitted power 10mW • Currently awaiting ACMA decision Pollock and Skafidas, NICTA
