  5. SINNERS RESPOND Jonah 4:2And he prayed to the Lord and said, “O Lord, is not this what I said when I was yet in my country? That is why I made haste to flee to Tarshish; for I knew that you are a gracious God and merciful, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love, and relenting from disaster.

  6. SINNERS RESPOND Exodus 20:2“I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery. 3 “You shall have no other gods before me.

  7. SINNERS RESPOND Jeremiah 2:12  Be appalled, O heavens, at this; be shocked, be utterly desolate, declares the Lord, 13for my people have committed two evils: they have forsaken me, the fountain of living waters, and hewed out cisterns for themselves, broken cisterns that can hold no water.

  8. SINNERS RESPOND Matthew 23:1 Then Jesus said to the crowds and to his disciples, 2 “The scribes and the Pharisees…5 They do all their deeds to be seen by others. … 6 and they love the place of honor at feasts and the best seats in the synagogues 7 and greetings in the marketplaces and being called rabbi by others. …27 Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you are like whitewashed tombs,

  9. SINNERS RESPOND Luke 15:28 But [the older brother] was angry and refused to go in. His father came out and entreated him, 29 but he answered his father, ‘Look, these many years I have served you, and I never disobeyed your command, yet you never gave me a young goat, that I might celebrate with my friends. 30 But when this son of yours came, who has devoured your property with prostitutes, you killed the fattened calf for him!’

  10. SINNERS RESPOND 31 And he said to him, ‘Son, you are always with me, and all that is mine is yours. 32 It was fitting to celebrate and be glad, for this your brother was dead, and is alive; he was lost, and is found.’ ”

  11. SINNERS RESPOND “Idolatry is not usually the worship of evil things, but making good things the best things!” Tim Keller

  12. SINNERS RESPOND “Within the human heart things have taken over. Men have now by nature no peace within their hearts, for God is crowned there no longer, but there in the moral dusk stubborn and aggressive usurpers fight among themselves for first place on the throne.” A.W. Tozer

  13. SINNERS RESPOND Isaiah 55:8For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the Lord. 9For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.

  14. SINNERS RESPOND Matthew 15:7 You hypocrites! Well did Isaiah prophesy of you, when he said: 8“ ‘This people honors me with their lips, but their heart is far from me; 9in vain do they worship me, teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.’ ”
