  4. The bow is held in the right hand. The Bow Horse hairs stretched over a wooden frame. Most of the instrument is made of different types of wood. The strings are made from wire or gut. Mute Sometimes a mute can be clipped to the top of the bridge to make a softer sound.

  5. Pitch • Bigger instruments sound lower than smaller instruments. • Longer strings sound lower than shorter strings. • Thicker strings sound lower than thinner strings. • Musicians change the pitch by pressing their fingers down on the strings, making them shorter.
