What’s been happening? • Support staff learning the new system • What’s different? • Setting system organization and roles • Campus integration (login, class lists, etc.) • Tool integration • “Training the trainers” • Admin and instructor courses for staff so far
Where will it run? • ANGEL runs on uWaterloo systems • D2L hosting is attractive • Two Toronto facilities (disaster recovery) • Secure, very large • Economies of scale, faster expansion • Still all our data • Planning one year trial of D2L hosting
Gradual Course Roll-out • Spring 2011 (12 courses) • Iterative testing of conversion of courses • Continue roll-out Fall 2011, Winter 2012 • Fall: keep new students in one system • Winter: no live ANGEL courses • Retain ANGEL for 1 year beyond end of final courses (for grade appeals)
Training and support plans • Support course moves from ANGEL • Training: • Group training in Faculties/departments • Some “just in time” training options • Videos • Documentation • Office hours by Faculty Liaisons • As needed, student overviews in class
Spotlight on pedagogy • Creating better learning experiences for students • Better alignment between campus and fully online courses • Consistency in practices and tool placement • New tools and mobile
