  5. Discipline Policy • Rewards The class will receive a class reward when they successfully earn ten compliments. The rewards will be decided on as a class. Ex. No Homework, Special Treat

  6. Discipline Policy • Weekly Report Card The students will be self evaluating their week and making goals for the following week. This will be sent home in the Friday Folder.

  7. Conduct and Effort Grades • Conduct Grades will be based upon the color pins Conduct grades will be out of ten points a week *A weekly grade will be given for effort out of three points.

  8. “We are Bucket Fillers” • Bullying Awareness Program- Continued with Mrs. Klein • Focus on Kindness and Thinking of Others • Bucket Fillers- Weekly journaling

  9. Snack • We will have a designated afternoon time for snack everyday • Please send in ONE, HEALTHY snack • We do have an early lunch, so a healthy snack helps keep our brains focused and energized for the second half of the day!

  10. Birthday Treats • Your child may bring in a treat to share with the class on his or her birthday • To avoid disruptions to our valuable class time please send/bring the treat in the morning to be eaten during our afternoon snack time • Please avoid pizza parties, frozen treats and cakes that need to be cut and distributed

  11. Reading We will be continuing the American Reading Program. Students will complete two steps in school and two steps at home for homework Monday-Thursday Students will be required to read four steps over the weekend. We will continue to recognize every 100 steps completed.

  12. Reading • We found that the students who are diligent and honest about the home reading achieved success with the program • Please be sure to initial the reading log every night. This will be taken for five weekly points towards the reading grade. • While it is the student’s responsibility to get their reading log signed, please help reinforce this routine.

  13. Homework • Students will receive Simple Solutions English and Simple Solutions Math for daily homework Monday through Thursday. This homework will be checked for understanding and completion. An overall grade will be given for homework in English and Math at the end of each week. • Math SS and English SS Tests will be on Fridays

  14. Spelling • We will continue the spelling program from the old reading series. • Words will be given on Monday, and a test on Friday. • The lists are available for home practice on spellingcity.com • Check assignment notebook for each week’s title

  15. Common Core • As a school we are transitioning to using the common core. With a focus on math and writing across the curriculum

  16. Homework • Students will write down their assignments in their assignment notebook daily. Please review your child’s homework and sign the assignment notebook to show the student has completed his or her assignments. • The goal is for your child to become responsible for his or her own work. Gradually he or she should be able to complete their homework independently. Please encourage them to use the help pages in their simple solutions if they need assistance.

  17. Homework • Along with this homework students may be given small homework assignments that go along with the lessons taught in class that day. • Students should be practicing their Math facts and reading for 30 minutes everyday.

  18. Absent Work • If you would like missed work to be sent home please call the office. • Students will be given the number of days missed to complete missing work.

Things to do… Please be sure to complete the following… • Fill out student information sheet on back table • Fill out way of transportation on back table • You can take home the Friday Folderon your child’s desk. This folder contains forms to filled out and returned to the office. Please return the folder and it will be used to bring home papers every Friday and returned on Monday.
