  1. Microfilaments By: Ashley Krizmanich Pd.5

  2. Location • They are found at the end of cells. • They can be attached to proteins within the cell. • They can be found floating free in the cell. • They could even be attached to other filaments.

  3. What does it look like The green areas are the microfilaments. Two strands of intertwined protein.

  4. What is it made up of • They are made up of actin subunits. • These actin subunits can range from 3-7 nanometers (nm)

  5. Functions • They provide support for the cell. • Help push and pull the cell membrane thus moving the cell. • Responsible for the change of the cell. • Takes part in the cell division. • They also contribute to the contraction of muscle cells and the movement of white blood cells.

  6. Cool Facts • They are designed to bare large amounts of tension. • One of the most intermediate filaments.

  7. Important Facts • They are in every eukaryotic cell. • They`re associated with myosin which is the most common protein in the muscle cell. • The edges contain the most microfilaments. • Typically nucleated at the plasma membrane.
