  1. Cupcake Wars Health Warning Health Problem • Some people (about 1 in 4000) may have seizures or blackouts triggered by light flashes or patterns, and this may occur while they are watching TV or playing video games, even if they have never had a seizure before. • Anyone who has had a seizure, loss of awareness, or other symptom linked to an epileptic condition should consult a doctor before playing a video game. Symptoms and Actions to Take When Experiencing Symptoms • Parents should watch their children play video games. Stop playing and consult a doctor if you or your child has any of the following symptoms: convulsions , eye or muscle twitching , loss of awareness, altered vision, involuntary movements, and disorientation. Precautions • To reduce the likelihood of a seizure when playing video games: • Sit or stand as far from the screen as possible. • Play video games on the smallest available television screen. • Do not play if you are tired or need sleep. • Play in a well-lit room. • Take a 10 to 15 minute break every hour.

  3. Getting Started • Insert the DVD for the video game into the computer. • The game should begin running automatically. • If the game does not begin automatically, select the Windows icon. Then select Computer. Click on the name of the video game then and it will run. Page 2 Main Menu Cupcake Wars This option allows you to select the theme of the competition you will play. Some themes include Chocolate Delight, Marshmallow Madness, Celebrity, and Candy Cupcakes. Full Episodes: Season 1 You can select which episode you want to watch of Season 1 of Cupcake Warsto help you play the game better. Base Recipes These are general cupcake recipes you can use as the base of one of your new cupcake creations. Interviews Watch interviews of Candace Nelson (owner of Sprinkles Cupcakes). In these interviews, she tells you how she made it to the top of the cupcake industry, how to make the perfect cupcake, and how to be a great leader. Page 3

Description of What the Parts Do ↑= Move to a new competition Return= Supplies and goods you need are provided F1= Ask the judges a question F2= Ask your teammates a question F3=Write your recipe F4= Make your batter %= Cupcake fight Page 5 F5= Make the frosting *= Put the cupcakes in the oven @= Take the cupcakes out of the oven #= Put the frosting on the cupcakes $= Present your cupcakes to the judges F6= Celebration dance Page 6

  6. How to Play 1. On the Main Menu, select Cupcake Wars. 2. Select the theme of the competition. 3. Listen to the judges talk about the competition's theme. 4. Listen to the competing teams talk about their cupcake shop. 5. Begin the competition by writing your recipe. Press the F3 button and type your recipe in the box. To begin making your recipe press Return. Your goods and supplies will appear. 6. Press F4 to make the batter. 7. Press * to put the cupcake batter in the oven. 8. Set the timer at the bottom of the screen to the time you want to cook the cupcakes. Page 7 9. While the cupcakes are cooking, make your frostingby pressing F5. 10. Press @ to take the cupcakes out of the oven when the timer goes off. 11. When the cupcakes cool off, put the frosting on the cupcakes by pressing the # button. 12. When you are ready, present your cupcakes to the judges by pressing the $ button. 13. Watch the judges eat and critique each team’s cupcakes. 14. Listen for the winner. If you have won, celebrate by pressing the F6 button. Page 8

Limited Warranty Publisher warrants the media on which the software is recorded to be free from defects in materials and workmanship under normal use for a period of ninety days from the date of purchase as evidenced by a copy of the sales receipt or packing slip. Publisher’s entire liability and your exclusive remedy will be replacement of the defective media or refund of the purchase price (at the publisher’s election) upon return of the software to publisher with a copy of your proof of purchase.
