God is Good. • Psalm 25:8Good and upright [is] the LORD: therefore will he teach sinners in the way. • Psalm 73:1 Truly God [is] good to Israel, To such as are pure in heart. • Ps 84:11 For the LORD God [is] a sun and shield; The LORD will give grace and glory; No good [thing] will He withhold From those who walk uprightly.

God is Good. • Ps 34:8 Oh, taste and see that the LORD [is] good; Blessed [is] the man [who] trusts in Him! • Ps 100:5 For the LORD [is] good; His mercy [is] everlasting, And His truth [endures] to all generations. • Ps 135:3 Praise the LORD, for the LORD [is] good; Sing praises to His name, for [it is] pleasant.

  4. God is Good. • Ps 145:9 The LORD [is] good to all, And His tender mercies [are] over all His works. • Lam 3:25 The LORD [is] good to those who wait for Him, To the soul [who] seeks Him. • Nah 1:7 The LORD [is] good, A stronghold in the day of trouble; And He knows those who trust in Him

God is Good. • Good(towb)= good, pleasant, agreeable, excellent, rich, valuable in estimation, comparatively better, glad, prosperous, kind, ethically right. • God is good and is therefore goodness, pleasance, agreement, excellence, richness, the best, gladness, prosperity, kindness, righteousness.

  6. God is Good. • Ps 23: 6Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever. • Mat 19:17 So He said to him, "Why do you call Me good? No one [is] good but One, [that is], God. But if you want to enter into life, keep the commandments." • 3 John 1:11 Beloved, do not imitate what is evil, but what is good. He who does good is of God, but he who does evil has not seen God.

  7. God is Good • Good (agathos) = 1) of good constitution or nature 2) useful, salutary 3) good, pleasant, agreeable, joyful, happy 4) excellent, distinguished 5) upright, honourable • Acts 10:38 how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him. • Doing good (euergeteō) = to do good, bestow benefits (see Psalm 103)

God is Good. • Fromeuergetēs = 1) benefactor 2) a title of honour, conferred on such as had done their country service, and upon princes, • Fromeu = to be well off, fare well, prosper, acting well • Andergon = a work, an act, a profession, a product • Hebrews 6:5and have tasted the good word of God and the powers of the age to come.

God is Good. • Good (kalos) = beautiful, handsome, excellent, eminent, choice, surpassing, precious, useful, suitable, commendable, admirable • a) beautiful to look at, shapely, magnificent b) good, excellent in its nature and characteristics, and therefore well adapted to its ends 1) genuine, approved 2) precious 3) joined to names of men designated by their office, competent, able, such as one ought to be 4) praiseworthy, noble • c) beautiful by reason of purity of heart and life, and hence praiseworthy 1) morally good, noble d) honourable, conferring honour • d)affecting the mind agreeably, comforting and confirming (see Phil 4:8 - Paul is urging to meditate on the Word!)

  10. Jesus is the GOOD WORD OF GOD. • Exodus 33:18,19. And he said, "Please, show me Your glory." Then He said, "I will make all My goodness pass before you, and I will proclaim the name of the LORD before you. I will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion."

  11. GLORY • Glory(kabowd) =  glory, honour, glorious, abundance • a) abundance, riches • b) honour, splendour, glory • c) honour, dignity • d) honour, reputation • e) honour, reverence, glory • f) glory • The glory of God is in His goodness. • Slow to anger despite our stubbornness and rebellion.

  12. Further Scriptures • Neh 9:17 They refused to obey, And they were not mindful of Your wonders That You did among them. But they hardened their necks, And in their rebellion they appointed a leader To return to their bondage. But You [are] God, Ready to pardon, Gracious and merciful, Slow to anger, Abundant in kindness, And did not forsake them. • Ps 103:8 The LORD [is] merciful and gracious, Slow to anger, and abounding in mercy. • Revelation 22:20 He who testifies to these things says, "Surely I am coming quickly." Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus! • Behold I come quickly, slow to anger.
